How to be consistent AF in your business
📍
Hello, flower friends. This is Jen. You are listening to the Floral Hustle podcast on this week's mini. So I wanna talk about being consistent af that's one of the things that I think is the key ingredient for you to be successful in your floral business and honestly in your life. If you're a mom in your motherhood, consistency is what is, is really just like inching you forward for success.
And when you are getting off kilter, you're getting off the rails, you're like not doing things consistently. And then you have expectations that you are going to have growth, then you get frustrated. So I want to give you some of my tips and tools and strategies for it. Being consistent. Cause that is one thing.
It's so interesting when you, you ask someone or like, you're just talking in conversation. They will say, well, you're so consistent at, because that consistency is why I'm successful. That's consistency is like why my, um, kiddo, I have a daughter with autism. Like that consistency with my daughter, Bella.
Has made her grow so much because we consistently worked on all of these key things. I consistently do I am affirmations with myself that has helped build my confidence, build my self esteem, and it really has helped ingrain in my subconscious mind That I am those things because I am powerful. I am strong.
I am magnetic. I am abundant. Like all of those things like done consistently are going to help you be so much more successful. So let's talk about being consistent. Like overall, one of the biggest things that I helps you game plan for consistency is having a strategy planning. mini sesh every week. I have what I call Sunday night prep.
And in my Sunday night prep, I am for one, I only go through my mail once a week. If I'm walking over and I just glance through it, uh, to make sure I'm not like missing a bride deposit or something like that, I don't need to open it. Like the world is not going to To, you know, basically burn down. So I have, that is part of my Sunday night prep.
So that I'm consistently getting the mail open. Uh, I then will fill out our magnetic calendar. That is on the fridge. And that has where everybody needs to be. That's, you know, what activities we're doing. Because then, I'm taking up less space and time. Managing that every single day. And this magnetic calendar, I put like when the nanny is coming, I put when we're going to karate, I put if I have a wedding, uh, I put my times that I'm going to be gone.
I'm communicating what's going on so that we're not always like just scrambling and nobody knows which way is up. So with doing a Sunday night prep ritual, I am able to look at my week and also go, okay, I have all these things. In my schedule, how am I going to fit all of these things in that? I also want to do on top of my schedule.
So those things usually are working out. Potentially going to the chiropractor or doing some type of self care thing. I will go in on Sunday and go, I am going to go to CrossFit on these days. I am going to go run up to the wholesaler. Then I have my backup plan. If for some reason I need to go to the wholesaler again, or if I need to go and get some, um, let's just say, uh, locally grown flowers are on a different day, usually.
So like I'm building that schedule so that I can build that consistency on getting that product in the studio, having a plan for it. I want a plan in my life. Having a plan is going to make you more successful. From Sunday night prep. I'm also sharing, communicating what's going on this week with my husband, with the kiddos.
I'm reminding them, I'm reminding myself, okay, do I have to have anything ready? Because even if you have sporadic things, you can consistently be prepared. So I also, as part of this being prepared kind of mantra, I have a wonderful, like, little, um, you know, Evernote, uh, app on my phone. And I go in, and for every facet, like, of my life, I, if I have something that is, comes to me, and I'm like, okay, next time, I'm in front of my daughter's play therapist or next time and I'm in front of our autism parenting coach next time Like I did this when I was in the mastermind next time I'm front.
I'm in front of my business coach I am going to ask these questions and So then I'm I'm queued up. I'm queued up to be successful. I'm queued up to have like a consistent, you know funnel of that information out of my brain on to You you know, whatever subject that it pertains to. I also have like for my personal training sessions, I do one a week that I'm working on like form and things like that to become stronger.
And honestly, like that is, is so, I mean, it should be pretty, pretty cut and dry. I'm just going to work out. But like, if something didn't go well in class and I'm like, I don't think I'm doing this right. I want to ask then. So I just like have a little notes app that I'm putting that in. I can consistently grow because I'm also consistently monitoring.
One thing that I think is really hard with being consistent, and this is my second tip, is you need to have an ability to measure it. If you don't have an ability to measure, it's hard to know if you're making progress. So go in and measure, like, Your Instagram, go make a social media dashboard, make a website dashboard.
I call it a scorecard. Go make a scorecard so that you can keep track of these things. And then when you keep track of these things, you're, you have the ability to go, Oh yeah, there, it has been, there has been growth. Like, look at, it feels like I'm working on this, but I'm making no growth. Well, then you can go into month by month and go, okay.
Like I actually am growing. That's pretty cool. Uh, I'm not growing at the level that I want to, so what could I do to improve it? So once you track, so if there is something that you want to know, track it. Track those results. Track the effort and the output that you're doing with what is coming back. That is going to help you stay consistent because your mind also needs to see growth when you're working hard.
Financial growth, physical growth, mental growth, you know, like it is growth when you're working at something, it's, it's just like kind of one of those necessities, at least in my, I'm always wanting to grow. I'm always wanting to learn. So then my next, uh, tip on being consistent AF is chipping away at things.
Most of us want to just go. balls out like I'm gonna get this done and this is gonna be awesome and we're gonna slam it and No That is long term probably not going to be successful. You need to go in and create Like a plan to chip away at something So I use Trello, which is there is an episode on Trello on the podcast that I will reference in the show notes You That is a project management software.
You can have up to 10 boards for free and with that those boards you can go and really Set up boards for whatever that you need to tackle into bite sized pieces So you have a wedding you have this huge wedding coming up Let's break that down into pieces so that you can consistently be chipping away at it.
You need to pull 110 cylinder vases. Those 110 cylinder vases need to be clean. You need to order slim pillars from Yummy Candles. You need to, you know, just all of these things. And I think that it's interesting to, to really look at all the pieces that come in play when it comes to these type of things, because there are a lot of moving pieces and if we don't really Break those things down.
We're going to be in panic mode and you're going to be working your booty off wedding week because you didn't Have that consistency to chip away at what was needing to be done So then when it's go time you're having to do all that and design so I also Am more consistent because I chip away at all of those things.
I have pull lists. I have recap lists So that like on tear down like we know like all of those little things are consistently worked on I need to create the recipes for this wedding. I need to do this for this so those Chipping away little things even though you're just like i'm so tired. I don't want to do it and i'll do it You know next week Well, like next week could become the next week and then the wedding's here and then you are going and scrambling.
So, make a plan. How can you chip away something? And listen to that Trello episode. You can do this about anything. If you're redoing your website, if you are, are doing anything big, this is your opportunity to go and really just make your life easier because you're just going in and doing it. Chipping away at that foundation.
So I think those kind of foundational ideas are all great to start being consistent, but one thing I think that helps me consistent is that I keep the promises to myself. So when I promise myself that I'm going to work out three or four times a week, when I promise myself that I'm going to get this estimate done by today, when I promise myself, I'm going to do something, I do it because I keep the promises to myself.
So, do you keep the promises to yourself? When you say you're going to do something and you don't, in your subconscious mind you're telling your body and your brain that it's okay, that you don't need to keep the promises to yourself. So, when things get hard, you bail. And we don't need to. you to bail on your big goals and dreams and chipping away at those big goals and dreams.
Those kind of moments that I am struggling with like, God, I really don't want to go. I just sit there and I pause and like, what would the next level version of myself say to my, say to me right now? Normally it's like, hey, stop it. Get off your booty and go to CrossFit. Get off your booty and go get your computer.
Get off your booty and like you need to have, like, be okay with this inner monologue telling you to go be unstoppable. And I rest, there's still time for rest, but I am unstoppable because I want big things in my life. I want big things for my family and to get there, it takes time. And sometimes, even my husband is like, why are you doing that right now?
Because I'm chipping away at things. Like, I'll go out and I've all of a sudden started pulling the pots out. I've all of a sudden started doing this, doing that. And like, just chipping away. And he's all the time going, okay, I don't, I don't know what, what you're doing, but whatever. So, chip away at things.
Because that is going to help you. You start keeping promises yourself as well, because once you start seeing that like results, Oh, I got this done. How did that feel to get it done on time? How did it feel to get done? And to me, like, I love that satisfaction of feeling done feeling like I'm winning and it's a pretty easy thing to do.
So, That's how you be consistent AF, people. I am so grateful for you, and thank you for listening, flower friend, and you have an 📍 amazing flower filled day.
