Micro-Momentum — How Florists Actually Get Things Done (Even With Zero Time)

Hello flower friends. I just wanna put it out there that I acknowledge all of us have crazy lives. Crazy lives. Being florist, being moms. Maybe you're working a side hustle and you're a mom. Like it's just a lot. And I have over multiple podcast episodes really talked about the idea that. W if you don't have big, big, huge blocks of time, because often that time just does not exist, that doesn't mean that you can't take action and build momentum in your business.

I call it micro momentum. Micro momentum has helped me build this business that I have today, and I've seen it impact so many others that I've coached or that I've worked with in some capacity, and even friends of mine because sometimes like the big ideas, the big things that you need to accomplish will take two hours, but if you can get step one done.

In 15 minutes, if you can get five minutes here, we always are just waiting for these big time blocks. And honestly, if you have a neurodivergent brain, big time blocks are not your friend. So if, if you are one of my floral homies out there that. Has a DHD has some other neurodivergence like it is real. 45 minutes is fucking hard.

So if you've been saying to yourself, when I have more time, I'll finally do this amazing fucking thing. The reality is most floris never get that huge chunk. Of interrupted time, especially if you're a mother, especially with the holidays, especially with wedding season, you know, like just with life. So how waiting creates this, like stagnation, procrastination and guilt, and then our brain overestimates how much time something will take.

And so then. We're really causing avoidance because we're overwhelmed that this thing is going to take forever, and so we keep pushing it off, which makes it worse. Instead, if we would've grabbed a little bitty chunk out of it, a little chunk of micro momentum, a small, simple, doable action that would move your business forward.

So micro momentum is. Something that even on a chaotic day, it is a two to five minute win. Micro momentum helps build confidence, identity, and consistency. Examples of micro momentum for me, uh, my workouts, like how I schedule my workouts, getting CrossFit in, like I know that that is an hour. But like it's micro momentum for me to go in on Sunday nights and my Sunday night, um, prep and go in and lay out what that success is going to look like for the week when I'm going to CrossFit.

Okay. Micro Momentum is the in Instagram engagement that I do in the bathtub every night. My 10 minute, um, Instagram kind of playbook that I did an episode on recently. Micro Momentum is me really just like looking at my calendar and planning when I'm going to tackle certain things and then. I often will use Trello and break big projects down into really bitty ones.

And then I can take one of those little bitty things out of anything and be like, I have five minutes to do, uh, the business bouquets and branding workshop, um, mood board. Like I got it in my head, but I need to get it in. Um, you know, something that's actually more doable. So, um. That is a micro momentum. I don't need to build my whole, whole sales page, whole everything.

I feel good, like I just got the mood board done because the mood board. Sets the mood and really like, makes me happy that it's done. I just finished the mood board and actually the sales page for the, um, old Hollywood glamor, uh, uh, installation rockstar workshop that's going to be coming up in March.

And like it is so sexy. So sexy, and I'm so excited about it and like, but. Uh, getting that done in little chunks like I did the mood board. I built like all of the different offers and, you know, plugged in where people can stay and all of those things. But like, I didn't have to sit down for two hours to do that.

I chunked out a little bit here, a little bit there, a little bit there. So why Micro Momentum works, small actions in interrupt, overwhelm. So a lot of times what will happen is that you get so overwhelmed, you start shutting down and therefore can't do anything. Your brain loves quick wins, it loves dopamine.

Has the motivation loop break the all or nothing feeling or stinking thinking that keeps florist stuck? It is not all or nothing. We are not all or nothing people. We need to remove decision fatigue because momentum will naturally create clarity. Build trust with yourself. That's one thing that I think is so important when you are setting goals, especially when we are coming into the end of the year and you are setting goals.

One of the biggest things is I keep fucking promises to myself. And I constantly show up for those promises and making sure that I'm making it happen. And if you wanna create a culture change in yourself next year, start keeping the promises to yourself. Start with building trust with yourself, because I follow through even in small ways.

Alright, here are 10. Real world examples that you can use today to kick ass and take names and get some fast micro momentum tasks. Okay. Respond to one dm, comment on three posts from a planner. Update pricing on one of your items. Record a 15 second behind the scene. Clip, that could be you looking cute, typing on your computer.

That could be you putting flowers in a vase. Tons of, I mean, there's so many things you could possibly do. Uh, save two trending sounds. So you see two trending sounds videos, you save them, send one follow-up email, organize one shelf or bucket. Okay. Check one venue tagged in images. Write three bullet points for a caption brain dump.

Tomorrow's to-do list. All of these could be done in like three minutes. All right, now comes the identity shift. Micro momentum starts to rewire your identity. I, I've talked about it on the podcast, but I am a certified, uh, mindset and life coach. Um, I am certified in, um, basically helping you rewire your identity, and that's how I know that this works because once you start to take action and once you start to change the narrative.

You start to change your internal narrative about yourself. I am someone who shows up even when life is busy. You stop needing the motivation. You operate from habit and self-trust. You stop waiting for that perfect moment and just start creating progress. All right. Here's another a simple 24 hour micro momentum challenge.

Just here's some ideas. Here's a little assignment. Choose one area of your life or your business, whatever you've been avoiding. Set a five minute timer today and do one micro step, one small thing on it. Celebrate it. Then watch how it shifts. Like if you've been dreading this project, let's just take a little bite out of it.

That is what Micro momentum can do for you. It can start to rewire your brain as somebody who gets shit done. As somebody who moves forward, who's somebody who is successful, who listens to themself, keeps, promises them to themself, and I know that you can be that person. I hope that you've enjoyed this episode.

If I were you, I would just go through and really look at what is really dragging on me, and then think about how could I make this feel easy? How could I make this feel like doable? Just ask yourself, what would make this project feel more doable? And often it's just chunking it down to such little spots, little pieces that you can just run with each little piece.

Like a total boss. If you need more structure, more accountability, and more strategic support. I wanna invite you into the floral CEO Mastermind because next month we are kicking ass and taking names and doing 2026 goal planning after we, we reflect on 2025 and how 2025 really ended up, um, from a success standpoint, we're gonna be going through some amazing workbooks and really diving into what worked, what didn't work, and what sort of worked.

And then we can look and see where should we be expending our energy in 2026 to maximize profits, maximize happiness, and maximize like the feeling that you wanna feel in your business. Thank you so much for listening, flower Friend. And you have an amazing flower filled day.
