Mini 101 Unlock the $100K Florist Blueprint_ 5 Revenue Streams You Can Start Today!
[00:00:00] [00:01:00]
Jeni: Hello flower friends, this is Jen and you are listening to the floral hustle podcast on this week's mini sowed and in the month of October we are talking all things 100k businesses and I wanted to talk about like not putting all of your eggs in one basket because that's pretty easy to do when you start just like really digging in.
Um, which can be detrimental not only to the financial, you know, health of your business, but also I think having some variety mentally and creatively is super beneficial and often When we get kind of niched down into something, if something, you know, changes, then we're in a [00:02:00] really tough spot. So, how do you have additional revenue streams?
And how do you really, because that's the key. When you have, I think the average millionaire has seven revenue streams and I'm guessing, you know, some of those are obviously investments and I hope that you have those as well. But some of those revenue streams that I have, um, have ebbed and flowed and changed.
I mean, I've had So cultural weddings is a revenue stream for me. And I have had cultural wedding years that I have hit like 175, 000. I have had cultural wedding years that have hit like 75. And so that ebb and flow is, is something for one, I'm, I don't want to have a business that like 175, [00:03:00] 000 is. Um, that doesn't sound like somewhere I want to be financially.
So it is just part of the equation. So I want to talk about like revenue sources that can fill your book of business, that not only if something changes, you have a safety net, but also like you're building, you know, what you like, what makes you happy. What is maximizing your, you know, your ROI on an hourly basis?
So like, what are you making the most amount of money with the least amount of input from you from a time resource standpoint or whatever? So I, I think that I see often when somebody is new and they're really wanting to build their business. They're thinking that they have to do everything. [00:04:00] And they're taking the daily delivery orders and they're trying to build that and they think that they need to build that but then they're simultaneously wanting to do a pop up and then they're also going to do a workshop and then they're going to do some valentine's flowers or mother's day flowers and then they're going to do a stem bar and then they're thinking I need to open a retail shop.
I have talked so many florists. off of the retail shop ledge that it is crazy. I want to live a life first business. So I don't want my time and my everything to just be having a retail shop. And if that is your dream, if you dream like of having this. beautiful shop that just like [00:05:00] has these amazingly curated gifts in it and has all of these like fun plants and, and you're wearing an apron and, um, taking orders and like, maybe your, your kiddo is in there with you, whatever it is.
Like if that speaks to you, I love it. It doesn't speak to me because I want time. And time is a currency to me. I want to be able to go to CrossFit. I want to be able to go get a massage. I want to be able to go to my dentist appointment and not have to find somebody to fill in. I want to be able to get my kids off the bus.
Like all of those things get really tricky and complicated and honestly expensive to if you want to do any of those things because you're having to source and hire labor to fill all of those gaps. And [00:06:00] then on top of it, you're having to, you know, manage being reactive to every time a, the phone rings and you're needing to do a daily delivery order.
And then you're living in reactivity, which I actually had one of my coaching clients, uh, that, was constantly had a retail shop, it closed and was kind of rebuilding. And I told her, what would it be like? Because part of her stress was like, literally all these people calling all the time. And, uh, Wanting something and wanting it now and her being no longer a retail shop, being able to accommodate that.
And people have some wildly crazy expectations, uh, that I'm not signing up for because I'm not going to stock a bunch of things, have to throw away a bunch of things, all the things. So, [00:07:00] um, she went and. I said, what would it feel like if you just turn your phone on do not disturb for a day? She's like, I can't do that.
And then she goes home and talks to her husband. He's like, absolutely not. We need the money we need. And I get that. But her stress level was seriously impacting her business and her, probably her relationship, probably her motherhood. And definitely I could see it was affecting her health, um, because she just seemed like she was always in this, um, reactivity mode.
And if you live your life in reactivity all the time, that constant cortisol like spike in your body is not good for you. It is really detrimental to you. And I don't want to live like that. So daily deliveries is not a revenue source. that I want to participate [00:08:00] in because I also don't want to be taking phone calls where somebody has really big expectations that I'm going to manifest these flowers out of thin air and deliver them for like 50.
That doesn't sound like fun to me. I do think some people can do that if they've built a brand that's like really higher end and you just have like drawn your line in the sand that I'm only going to do a daily delivery if it's 100. Like that could work. I mean, it's still a lot of work, but that could work.
I would much rather, and one of my revenue sources is doing wedding orders. I would much rather take on and for one, be able to forecast that I know I have 20 weddings. And I have a shrink clause in my contract. So my wedding dollar amount, isn't going to go under this. I know that my profit margin is this so that I know inevitably in the end of the year, I'll be able to pay myself this.
[00:09:00] That is how a hundred thousand dollar CEO thinks. That is how you build a business that is going to be impactful, but that's not the only thing that I do. So I mentioned earlier in the episode, cultural weddings. I have a cultural wedding niche that is outside of my American traditional wedding niche. So I deal with decorators, event designers that specialize in that and I serve that market.
So that is another revenue source. That could be Jewish weddings. That could be like I do a lot of Hindu Muslim Sikh weddings. Weddings that could be Nigerian weddings that could be same sex weddings. Like I have started doing more same sex weddings and I, I love it because they're usually like very colorful and like just usually super amazing humans that you want to work with.[00:10:00]
And so they aren't like this mother of the bride. That's a total troll. And you're just dealing with all this dynamic because people think they're supposed to be getting married and these people probably shouldn't be getting married. But then. So that's like two different sources. So I have my cultural wedding niche.
I have my, um, regular American wedding niche. I, or revenue source. And then I also do, I've done workshops. Like it's not an impactful thing of, of revenue that I would say is a game changer, but that could be part of my revenue sources. Uh, I do a very small amount of orders for holidays because there are limited amount of florists in my city.
So that usually, I'm adding 3, 000. I have corporate clients that have me deliver plants for funerals, arrangements for funerals. If somebody in [00:11:00] the financial planning office, I have one that, that I do one of, um, has somebody that has a surgery, retires, whatever, I'm delivering flowers for their clients.
Like that, um, A loan and plus I do a daily delivery or a monthly delivery for the, um, owner's wife. That is about 3, 500 a year in orders. So like all of these little things that don't take a lot of effort because I literally get an email, I have a church that church, you know, is around, let's just say 3, 500 a year or, or 4, 000 a year.
Um, you know, those things, if we keep dropping little marbles of money into our piggy bank or coins in our piggy bank, it gets full. Um, my most recent and one I am probably most excited about right now is my new silk flower rental business. And I've had a bunch [00:12:00] of you on Instagram ask about this and are just interested.
And, um, in all transparency, I bought a course. I believe courses are shortcuts to information and I think that this is something that for one if I would have tried to do on my own, would have been such a big financial learning curve buying all these things. So I bought this course that this woman, Jacqueline from Blue Blossom Academy.
I absolutely love her. I love her energy. She designed this business for people who want a life first business. And she teaches you from A to Z, anywhere from, uh, like how to set up your website, how to go and, um, you know, source all these items, how to make all these items, how to market yourself, how to do a styled shoot.
A lot of these things I knew how to do already. But like some of those things that I learned were invaluable [00:13:00] like because I'm not gonna have to go and Spend a ton of money sourcing product that I'm not happy with so I'm making this so simple By investing in this course, and it was really fun It was an investment, but I have already made that investment back.
I haven't even formally launched it with having my website set up for automated rentals like she teaches in the course. And I've already made, I think it was like 8, 500 this year. And I already have like 7, 500 or something like that booked next year. So I've already. quadrupled my investment and I haven't even tried.
I have been so busy with having the workshops that I had for this, doing the podcast, running my mastermind. And I've had, I think already year to date, 250, 000 of wedding business, if not more, I think it was like 275, 000 of just wedding business. Like, [00:14:00] I've been busy and I've made that without a lot of effort.
So I feel like it is something that is going to be really impactful this winter. I'm going to go through all the process because in Minnesota here, winter is kind of like the regroup time and I am going to regroup and I'm going to be formally launching it and making shit happen with it. And so if this is something that you're like, God, how does this even work?
I have also, like, taken things that she's teach in the course and I'm putting my spin on it. I, I love citrus colored and, um, like, just color palettes and blooms. So I made a citrus inspired arch to rent out. I had a ton of people ask me about silk rental centerpieces. And I'm even partnering with a venue that we're developing packages for her to rent them out.
And I pay her commission, [00:15:00] um, for basically doing the whole sales process. And that is something that I'm like tweaking and navigating on my own that I, that I didn't learn from the course, but I'm taking what I know and things that I know will be successful in my market and tweaking those to make even more.
So if this is something that you're interested in, go and send me a DM and Instagram and I'm happy to answer any questions. But if you, I will have Blue Blossom Academy linked in the show notes. If you use my code HUSTLE, it is such a good deal. You are getting her free new corporate, which is another revenue stream that I'm super excited to hear more about.
Um, it is corporate installations. So like those installations that everybody is seeing on Instagram, somebody on the outside of their business is doing this over the top installation of silk flowers. So they create this Instagram worthy [00:16:00] moment. Like. That is what the course is and you're getting it for free and it's 22.
50. Using my code, you get half off of her regular prices at any time. She has a once a month sale, but you're getting it off anytime and you're getting that free course and if you buy, you're also going to get a free one hour coaching of how you can integrate this successfully in your brand and not really like, You know, start deval I had a bunch of people say, Oh, it's going to devalue my brand because it's going to think I'm just cheap.
I am not cheap. These are not cheap rentals. Like, they're 1, 150 to 1, 200 to rent an arch. So this is something that you could make serious impact with, and this program shows you how. I just have to do a plug before, because I know how impactful this has been already. And in using my code, it is [00:17:00] such a good deal that, um, and this is on her full master class, which is an investment, but it is so worth it.
So. Those are some of the revenue streams that I'm really focusing on going into 2024, but I want to touch on one more and that is Alicart Flowers. Alicart Flowers is a completely independent revenue source in a business. If you are a full service florist and you are wanting to up your revenue but not up your pain in the ass factor, this is an amazing way to do it.
I I love waking up to my inbox having orders in it. It feels so good. I just wake up and there's orders. And that can be you too. Like it, I've done several episodes on a la carte flowers. Uh, I, I feel like it is a no brainer for anybody who just wants. [00:18:00] to for one not reject clients that don't have your full service minimum, but still have a way to work with you.
Simplify it so it's easy to produce, easy for you to order, easy for you to execute, and it's creatively pretty fun because you're making all the flower choice decisions. Alucard Flowers is a way that I have really creatively grown and I think it's a huge opportunity. So, those are my revenue streams. I think that this is a way, if you pick any one of these and just add another, you're probably doing full service weddings right now, add Alucard.
Look at this arch program. Look at niching down into something that could be a completely independent revenue source for you. Then you are going to really get on a trajectory of being that six figure and pull that six figure business owner that If for some reason something falls off You got it covered because you have other [00:19:00] revenue sources To pick up the slack that you could maybe tweak and put a little bit more focus on.
