What do I post on social media?
📍 Hello Flower friend. This is Jen and you are listening to the Floral Hustle podcast on this week's mini. So we are gonna talk about what should you be posting on social media. This is a question that I get a lot, and this is a question that I actually wondered about for so long, and literally to a point like I, I just, I didn't do Instagram for literally the years and years that Instagram.
Was building because I just, I didn't want to have this, um, you know, indecision completely all the time because I, I just, I didn't understand what to post. And so today we're gonna talk about like, some fundamentals of things that you can post about and really how you can make this super easy from a content planning stand.
So one thing is picking theme days. Theme days could be like, meet us Monday, that you have a picture of yourself or your team. You could post about your business. You could post about your process of working with you. Just something that literally helps you, uh, introduce yourself and how you do business to your audience.
That could be, let's just say, meet us. One day that you're just consistently every week, that's what you post. You're not having to think about it. You could actually create graphics, maybe like six different types and just put them in an alternating schedule, and one could be about you. And then you already have your caption written.
One could be about your team. One could be about how they work with you. One could be about your service offerings. One could be about, um, your inquiry process just. Do people interact with your business and with, um, you know, really just behind the curtains of who is the face behind the business? Who is the owner?
Uh, so do you can just get people to start to like, and trust you because you're really putting yourself out there. Then you could have a theme day also, um, Tuesday tip wedding Wednesday, Friday fun day. You, whatever you. You could literally go in and put that type of content together to share in advance so you're not having to do it on the fly.
You could have a content planning day or a content batching day that you're batching a month of these posts and scheduling them in a, in a tool, super easy. Um, affordable to have a scheduling tool. I think it's like minus $15 a month, I use Plani and it is so worth the investment because every day I'm not having to think about that content planning.
Then the third thing is you could pick a theme for the week, and if you pick a theme for the week, you could have, like this week, something that adds value. So what can you deliver to your audience that's adding. And that value could be, uh, talking about your top trends of 2023. That could be talking about ways to maximize your budget.
That could be talking about, um, you know, if you should hire somebody to do your tear down, if delivery and setup is worth it if, uh, your a la carte program versus your regular program is worth it. So you literally could be doing any of those things. And come up with, this is my theme for the week, and then take that week and literally do a long form video, do a 62nd reel and a 32nd reel.
So you're taking that long form content and then you're taking a chunk and talking about that for 60 seconds and then a chunk and talking about that for 30 seconds. It. Spreading that content out over three days. So if you did that and you did meet us Monday, you would have four days of content just with that.
So super simple. You could also sprinkle in beautiful pictures, of course, and I would recommend doing some beautiful pictures kind of throughout. But you could also correlate that to your theme. Let's say that you are talking about ceremony flowers. You could put in a post of some ceremony flowers that you did, which would help tie everything together, but still getting your feed with some layered in images of, uh, you know, beautiful work that you do because, you know that's, that's part of why they're there.
But part of the reason why they're there is so that they can learn from you. You're adding value. You are literally showing them what type of business, what type of. Woman or a person that you are and you are sharing your gifts and showing them that I literally, I wanna help you, I wanna educate you, and I really want to show you the type of business person I am to make them wanna do business with you.
Then in your stories, I would post content that, of course is like day in the life content because stories in your feed are two different places. But then I would. Static graphics that you literally will save in a folder on your phone. There are story graphics. One of them's gonna be like a meet us graphic.
One of them is how they inter interact with you to, to inquire about your services. One of them could be, uh, did you know we have two types of service offerings, uh, full service and a. One of them could be, uh, you know, about setup, about teardown. You could make all of these pre-done graphics and then once a day go into that folder and literally post one, grab the URL that they can connect with that there's more information or your inquiry form or whatever.
But go and have that literally dropped in your stories once a day with your behind the scene content. And behind the scenes people are fascinated. Going to the wholesaler and uh, you know, just showing them your cart for, uh, beautiful flowers that's put together. Something similar to that is going to have them feel like they're a part of your business.
Like literally they are, are feeling what it is to be you, which is, um, kind of exciting because people like to live vicariously through others and showing them all that even when you get everything processed, take a video of the boxes. Then take a picture of them all in the buckets or a small short, um, video clip of them in the buckets.
And then while you're doing that type of content, take little five to seven, eight second. And I know it seems kind of daunting, but take little short video clips and literally those are just gonna be stored in your arsenal cuz one day there's gonna be a trending. That literally you could add that seven to eight second video to, and have another reel just with behind the scenes content.
They call it B-roll content. I, I call it like, just like every day, every day in a life content that content could easily get. Funneled into trending sound reels into making, um, you know, like a quote graphic and then picking a song. There's a ton of options, but it really is worth your time to get all those little short snippets because it's going to help you really have tons of content without feeling like you're continuously making.
I hope this was helpful. I hope you build a strategy behind your social media. And if you haven't gone and downloaded the social media guide, it literally walks you through what your profile should be, uh, what content should be on your profile to really speak to your ideal audience. Uh, a content strategy, just like we talked about, there's a, um, a tracker that helps you track.
